The Chair-ish me project
Hello, troop 19!
This blog is for you!
All you need to do is design a chair for you, someone you love or someone you want to comfort. And then, your work will be published!
Why a chair?
When you have visitors or when someone next to you is tired, the first thing you do is offering or finding something to sit on.
When you are tired, you can seat on the floor but it is not really comfortable. Is it?
So you are looking for something more cosy to rest on: a bed, a sofa, an armchair, a chair or a stool.
I suggest that you focuse on the two last ones as they are easier to build: A chair or a stool.
Build?
Why not! Once you have answered all the questions, everything is possible.
Which questions?
The one we worked on at our meeting about the design badge.
Here to refresh your minds:
The Designer listing:
1- Who is my "customer"?
Your dad or mum, your sister or brother, your grand-parents, a good friend, the old neighbourg next door?
Age and sexe will determine the style of your design.
2- What are their needs?
A good chair because they have a bad back; A stool for the kitcken; to add when you invite friends; a chair for their or your new desk, ...
This will help you to choose between stool or chair and to find the right size (large, height, depth) and shape.
3- At this point, you can draw your first design.
4- What do you need to make it?
What kind of material, tools.
4- How much will it cost?
- Think cost of the materials: fabric, wood, foam, pillows, cardboard, recycled materials. and, cost of tools (nails, thread, sewing machine)
Use internet websites such as , for example, butinette, Leroy-merlin, Castorama, ... If someone can lend it to you. If you can rent it.
5- Who is going to make it? What are the skills needed?
You. Alone? With help of your parents? A professionnal you will have to pay. In that case, add it to your costs list.
Meeting professionnals might be interesting. They can give you ideas. Share with you some of their knowledge.
6- Finish your design and drawing to be published.
Make it pretty. Take care of the details.
Send it by mail, email. Your mother have them. Give it to me during another meeting.
Et voilà!
Your creation will be on the web. You can also choose a designer name.
